...There is a re-release of the original "The World Ends with You" (originally a DS game, this time I'll explain things for everyone who is confused) coming to the iPad in August.
You knew that already if you've been reading my stupid, scatterbrained journals about this.
But rumor has it there's more to come, and while I don't usually take stock in rumors, this would make sense. You don't create all this hype just for a remake on a new platform. In fact, I'm including that as potential hype for something to come.
But if you repeat this to anyone, remember to preface it with, "I heard this from some idiot on the internet"
Because that's all I am. xD
Now, while we're on this subject, I've been doing some thinking, and actually...
...listen close here because you won't hear me say this very often...
I'm actually proud of Square for all of this.Hear me out.
The World Ends with You, or as I fondly and lazily call it, "TWEWY", was obviously more a work of passion than anything else. This was a brand new title with brand new characters, and a BRAND NEW style of gameplay -- all of these elements are a risk for Square. I originally fell in love with the game because although the story
was completely awesome, it
wasn't more important or better than the gameplay. Usually, Square games have pretty generic gameplay, but sell it with their stories/cinematics. For once, I was pleased by BOTH elements...seriously, I never expected Square was capable of doing that. xD
I was pissed it didn't sell well.
As a game*, it was better and more interesting than Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy, which sell like there's no damn tomorrow.
Square did EVERYTHING RIGHT FOR ONCE, and they didn't get the reaction they deserved for trying something new, and succeeding at it.
*Game, not story. Learn the difference, or gtfo.Well anyway, that brings us to why I'm proud of them. The game didn't sell well, and does not have a huge, clamoring fanbase like Kingdom Hearts or Final Fantasy.
But they are trying to sell it anyway.
Why? Well hopefully it's because the game means something to them.
If it didn't, they'd go, "oh shit that didn't sell QUICK MAKE MORE KINGDOM HEARTS"
But they didn't give up on it.
They are insisting that people give a shit about TWEWY, and I'm all for it, because damn, TWEWY is a good game.
So good on you Square.
For once, I'm with you on something, and I wish you the best of luck.
But still.
I know where you live.Ruin TWEWY, and I assure you,
you will regret it.
I still agree with what you say about dodging the sequel bullet though
Oh yeah, sequels are iffy. Sometimes I want them, and sometimes I'm not sure if there should be any. xD
Especially that last bit. c;
