Hey everyone, I know I've been quiet on here for QUITE some time now. I was overwhelmed by all the accounts I had to keep updating and ended up basically singling out Twitter as my main place for art since it's easiest to post art and then simply run away on there (and lately I've been busier than ever and shouldn't be spending much time online).
But, after a few weeks of slowly cleaning out my inbox on here, I'm ready to start trying to get this account up to date again (and it's QUITE a bit behind, oof).
I'm also working on ways to feel less overwhelmed, and a big one will be ignoring most DM's/"chats". I may give them a glance every now and then to see if anyone needs anything important, but since private messages give me anxiety, and because I do not have much time for in-depth, one-on-one socialization right now, I just want to get it out there that it's nothing personal if you send me a DM and don't hear back from me! I love you guys so much, but I just can't handle it, for now anyway.
(I wish you could turn them OFF, like you can on furaffinity!)
Anyway, I hope to start uploading some of my art backlog, soon. Thanks for being patient and sticking with me even though all this Art Absence!!!
Hey guys! Lately I have been doing more sketches than finished art, because I finally realized just how badly finishing every artwork was slowing down my improvement. But since I don't like to post sketches/doodles here, I've been posting them more on Twitter, Patreon, and now, at basically every person I know's insistence, also on Instagram.
My account is here: https://www.instagram.com/nyaasu_nekoban
I've posted all my favorite art from the past few years on there so far, and I'm starting to post my "almost daily" doodles on there now, too.
[If you'd like to see the previous doodles I've been doing the past few months, I did my best to organize them in my pinned tweet on twitter ( http://twitter.com/nyaasunekoban ), or, you can find them way more easily on my Patreon, which is totally free to view (except for super high-res works) --> https://www.patreon.com/nyaasu ]
I'm sorry I haven't had much for you guys lately, but between working on prints (etc) for KupoCon next year, and doodles just for practice, I mean, I haven't had time for much. And until I get REMARKABLY better at the "sketch" level for my art, I don't think I'll be posting many finished works, so if you've missed seeing my art, I think these three platforms are your best bet!
And, a bit off-topic, but since people keep asking me about them, commissions are STILL on hiatus, and probably will be until I can figure out how to get them done MUCH faster and without so much stress. Which...may never happen. So, for now, they are on an "emergency" basis only, because at my present speed with them (too slow), they cause too much anxiety and depression for me (too much time lost). Although, it may be possible for me to take SKETCH commissions at some point, because those are the only ones I think I can do fast enough where the amount of money I earn is emotionally equivalent to the amount of time/effort spent. But I just want you all to know that the chances of me opening commissions regularly any time soon, especially fully colored ones, is *extremely* low. They just take too long, and mentally I can't take the stress of them (especially around my full-time job, which is also art, and is extremely stressful).
...I've been doing my best to learn how to do art faster, and I just can't. I watch other artists get a $45 commission done in an hour or so, and my $45 commissions can potentially take 5-6 hours (straight working, not counting breaks). I don't believe I should charge more money just because *I* am slow, my customers shouldn't be punished for something that is my fault. So it's something I'm working on, but I just need it to be known that it doesn't look likely that I will ever be fast enough with my art that I'm comfortable with full-colored commissions. I'm very sorry. ); But I AM trying to get to that point, if possible!!
