I came downstairs to make some popcorn earlier today, and tadpole brother came down shortly afterward. Before we continue, for any of you new guys out there, it should be known that tadpole brother has down's syndrome, so there is a lot that he doesn't understand, but he tries his best. Anyway, tadpole brother grabs a bag of cheetos, and announces, "Well, it's time to feed Smokey. And Shiro." (Smokey and Shiro are our dogs.) I think this announcement is rather odd, considering he's holding a bag of cheetos...but I'm figuring, he came down for a snack, then remembered that he has to feed the dogs. So I continue dealing with my popcorn, and when I turn around again, he's got Smokey's bowl on the counter, and he's filling it with cheetos, while Smokey looks on, excited. ...I can't believe what I'm seeing. "[Tadpole brother], why are you feeding Smokey cheetos?!"

"...Mom told me to."

...I mentally facepalm, because I don't doubt this. My mom's the nicest person on this planet, she gives up every second of her spare time improving the lives of people she barely even knows...but she's not exactly the smartest person on earth, and her telling tadpole brother to feed the dog cheetos...is not beyond my realm of believability. ...So I tell tadpole brother, don't listen to mom. She's crazy. Please feed the dogs dog food. ...Which he does, and everyone's happy.

Later, when mom gets home, I ask her why in the HELL she would tell tadpole brother to feed the dogs CHEETOS.
...Apparently, she told him they could be fed to the dogs as TREATS, because they had gone bad. Not as an ENTIRE MEAL, which is where tadpole brother got confused.

We're both glad I was able to prevent a doggy diarrhea episode of ungodly proportions.

But at the same time, I deal with these kinds of misunderstandings all day, every day.

It's a good thing I find them funny. xD

Hi from the Poconos! ...Where the only internet I have comes from my phone, which has 0G's out of 4, it turns into an "E", whatever the hell  that means (but it translates into 56k with frequent drop-outs).

Anyway, so I guess the proper way to start this (stupid/pointless) journal is by saying I collect Tamagotchis and other keychain pets of  that ilk.
I'm pretty serious  about it.

There's a Kmart near the house I'm staying at that has one of those "random prize" machines, where you pop in $.25-$.50 and you get a dumb thing that costs a fraction of a penny, enclosed in a plastic egg. Well  this one's full of ABSOLUTE GARBAGE, but also a few generic "Digital  Pets" in the mix.
I see them.
They are in there.

I FUCKING WANT THEM.

Why? They probably suck, right?

YEAH PROBABLY.

But since I have no idea what they are, and they don't have a name I can look them up under, I HAVE NO IDEA HOW ELSE I CAN FIND THEM TO PURCHASE THEM.
And I am obsessed with getting EVERY DIGITAL PET OUT THERE (with rare exception), which includes these bastards.

So I find every excuse I can to go to that Kmart, and pump the thing full  of quarters.
I collect quarters like a squirrel during the week in preparation.

It's like all I think about.

I have so many shitty little toys from that machine and I don't even know  what to do with them.

Someone help me.

Well, I have been going NUTS trying to find this statement from a fur factory which breaks down those "animals skinned alive" videos, and presents a VERY intelligent argument that they are in fact staged. This came up in a conversation with =Fellmekke, but since I couldn't find my source, I felt a bit shy with my take on it. So I have been going CRAZY trying to find this damned article on Google, and never could find it again.

I have been ignoring my Etsy! But I finally got off my butt (or...I guess...sat down on it, really) and updated it. Here's what's new:

Ok so I have been very quiet about the whole XBOX one thing, because I never planned to have one anyway, and if you like Nintendo and talk shit about another console YOU ARE A FANBOY END OF STORY, and I try my best not to be a fanboy. I totally am, but compared to my boyfriend, no. No I'm not. I will buy other consoles if they appeal to me, not SET THEM ON FIRE AND CACKLE ABOUT IT. So there's that in my favor.

BUT ANYWAY I was on "Know Your Meme", a website where I get stuck all the time, and I found so many memes about the XBOX one that are just...lol...I can't not laugh. I feel so horrible. But it's so god damn funny.

OH, and on a related note, I had been saving up for a new TV (as in, no more thrift store CRTs for me, they don't work for modern gaming, as much as I love them) and I finally bought it yesterday! A Samsung 32" with GAME MODE, so you know, close to no lag.

I was always advised that my artwork was too animal-oriented for an anime convention, and needed more humans. And I totally agree with that assessment.
HOWEVER - My best selling items were animals, and animal versions of characters, which I expected to do poorly, so I made the least amount of them. Meanwhile, human artwork I almost killed myself making HARDLY SOLD AT ALL, in fact, I can't remember if I sold a single human artwork at all.

Caught a Sabrecat Cub in Draqon Quest Monsters Joker 2.

Instant good mood.

Yeah I'm sure you've heard that I sell prints.
I hawk them every chance I get, despite the fact that it's kind of obvious that no one really wants/can afford them. xD
But I've been preparing, printing, and cutting them for days in preparation for CloverCon, and I just wanted to rant about them a little bit.

My prints are damn beautiful.
And I don't mean the artwork, I understand that the subject matter is relatively dull and mostly dog-oriented and not all that interesting or exciting*. I mean the quality of them. It took me...what, a year? Two? To find the perfect combination of printer, paper type, and cutter, and my most recent batch of prints is absolutely gorgeous. I have never seen my art so large and so beautiful before. I'm getting colors out of these prints that people have told me were impossible, and I'm very proud of my work, and that's not something I get to feel very often**.
*Sorry about that, I'm working on it.
**I kind of usually just hate everything I do, so it's nice, for a change.

It ain't the cheapest route. I go through razors like nobody's business*, and of course, the absolute perfect paper I've found is pretty rare, and only Staples (the most expensive place on earth) carries it. I was advised to switch to generic inks, which saved me enough money to make prints even POSSIBLE, so I'm happy about that. ...In actuality, it has cost me more to MAKE prints than I've ever made selling them, which sucks and makes me angry at myself, but...somehow I still feel satisfied.
*Although now I have found a stationary paper cutter that saves me HOURS - thank god - I used to use an exacto knife and a ruler, and YES, I SLICED OFF HALF MY FINGERTIP ONE DAY - that's one print ruined with a bit too much red...hahahahaha ow.

So I guess all I'm trying to say is...I'm proud of my prints. And one day, I'll make art that suits the quality of the print...although it might take a while. xD
I realize that what I like to draw is not what people like to buy, and that's a shame, but someday I'll make those two things meet halfway.

I have a bittersweet feeling tonight...my prints are beautiful, but I feel like my art is not, which is why no one really wants them, especially at the price I need to sell them at online (at cons they're cheaper [no shipping] and so I do better). But *I* like to look at them, which makes me happy even though I'm bummed.

Don't mind my optimistically depressed PMS rants, please, I'm just tired and happy and sad and everything at once and I think it's making me a little crazy.

...Because I never realized it was such a big deal, but might be a tiny problem with me selling prints at cons. ...Whoops.
In fact some of you may never even have noticed.

But I do draw the little "lump" on a male dog that keeps his manparts hidden.

Why do I do that? Especially since I'm so adverse to drawing anything even remotely sexual?

Well, it's because of the movie Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron, really. I thought that movie was AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL, and in that movie the animators actually included his sheath, and I thought, wow, that's mature of them. They're not avoiding that part of him because it may offend people. Male horses DO have something there. And it's not an ACTUAL penis (that would be going too far), it's just a lump!
Another influential movie here is The Plague Dogs.

...After that, I included it on all the male dogs (and I guess other animals you can see it on, horses...deer, whatever), and it never even once seemed "sexual" or naughty, it was just the lump that makes a male dog a male. I don't draw the balls, you'll notice, probably because I think balls look silly*, but even those can be done maturely (see: PomPoko, the Catbus from Totoro). I personally think adding BALLS to a Sora-dog would be going too far. But the sheath I never felt uncomfortable about. And if *I* don't feel uncomfortable about it, I figure it HAS to be no big deal.
*Or possibly because all my dogs have been neutered, lol

But now I'm being told that sheaths may not be "family-friendly", and I may want to not display/sell anything showing one at a public event...and since so many of my art is dogs, and so many are male...jeeze, I'm in trouble...I don't know what to do. Put censor bars? But that definitely MAKES the sheath a sexual thing, which I don't feel it is.

Now I'm all self-aware and shit...and I'm not having a good day as it is. I think I'm going to go take an anger nap. -_-

But uh, anyway, I thought I might explain why I draw sheaths...since it's apparently not as trivial/unoffensive as I thought it was.
What do you guys think? Are sheaths a sexual thing, or a male/female identifier?
Clearly, Dreamworks got away with it, in a film rated G. ...I think that means it's OK.
Plague Dogs isn't exactly for LITTLE kids, but it's not exactly rated R, either.
Both of these animated movies identified male animals with sheaths.

Also, for the record, ACTUAL dog penises disgust me and I WILL NEVER DRAW ONE, so yeah. Just getting that out there.

It is funny how thin the line is between OK and EW for me on that part of a dog, haha.

...I'm trying to get every spirit in KH: DDD.
Right now I'm trying to get a Flowbermeow, which means I need 3 Malleable something-or-others, which you get by killing Flowbermeows. ...but I can't find any to kill.

A Kingdom Hearts wiki lists it as being in a "Special Portal" in Traverse Town, Riku's side.
Another website claims it's specifically in "Special Portal 2", which is in the Second District.
I can't find any such portal there, even after watching a video of someone accessing it. Its just NOT THERE.

Info that might be relevant:
-I've beaten the game. Do portals vanish forever after a certain point? If so, terrible game design, Square, murder yourselves brutally please.
-I've supposedly beaten this portal! It says so in my game records. I can't imagine that portals vanish forever after being beaten. Especially since they don't. I can go back into any OTHER portal any time I want.

If you think you can help me please chime in, because otherwise I'm going to set my 3DS on fire, and I'd hate to resort to that. Its the rare, expensive, and pretty Pikachu edition.

I just need to know where I can find and kill Flowbermeows.

I've been whining about not having a good spirit-gathering guide for ages, not even the official player's guide is any help to me, and finally the boyfriend had enough of my bellyaching and found me quite a few online, but none stand on their own. I have to use three of them at once to figure out what spirits drop what materials and where to find them, which isn't TOO bad, but I'm surprised there isn't a complete guide for this game, considering it's not one of my obscure titles I often need help for, its KINGDOM EFFING HEARTS.

That is, Chrono Trigger on SNES.

It's about to get 5/5 stars on my Backloggery.
