The stupidest things bother me… I was watching a Game Theory video (already not a bright idea) about Majora's Mask and the Gaijin Goomba guy was trying to make everything in MM fit his idea that it's African-inspired, so he insisted that Gyorg was based on a freshwater cichlid native to Africa, just because of mouthbrooding, which plenty of other non-cichlid fish do (including a species of catfish and you should know that Asians are obsessed with catfish). You've probably seen enough fish to agree with me that the rough skin/scale texture, coloration, spines and proportions are just like stonefish, the size, proportions and gulping up a man-sized thing are like the goliath grouper and the teeth, inhabiting (terrorizing?) a bay and "horn" are like the goblin/oni shark (I think the only fish that looks like it has a horn), which are all saltwater species. (Goblin sharks live in Tokyo Bay; now what's more likely, Japanese being inspired by an obscure African fish that doesn't even look like Gyorg, or drawing from their own backyard?) He sounded like he was full of shit on the other stuff, too, but they weren't in my realm of expertise, so I'm not the best to argue them.
(At least I have enough perspective to know that it's stupid that this bothers me, right? That's worth something.)
